Pearce would like to recognize James Montz as our July Member of the Month!
Meet James Montz, our July Member of the Month! At 89 years young, James is an inspiring example of how staying active and engaged can enrich your life at any age.
James is retired from J.I. Case Company, where he worked for an impressive 35 years. He joined Pearce Community Center a year ago after being introduced by his daughter, who is also a member. James is currently in physical therapy and was looking for a place to walk and do cardio indoors, and Pearce turned out to be the perfect fit.
When asked what he enjoys most about being a member, James says it’s the friendly people and the opportunity to keep moving. His favorite activities include walking the track, spending time in the gym, and participating in Silver Sneakers Yoga.
James believes Pearce helps him “keep on keeping on” a simple but powerful sentiment that speaks volumes. In his free time, you can find him reading, watching Wheel of Fortune, Gunsmoke, and Hawaii Five-O, or taking peaceful walks at Shore Acres Park and sitting by the river.
His favorite quote is one that reflects his kind spirit: “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”
And his advice to fellow members? “Motion is lotion.”
