Pearce would like to recognize The Skalet Family as our February Members of the Month!
Joel and Michelle are the parents of Norah (15), Henry (14), Oliver (11), Charlotte (10), and Violet (10). Joel is an engineer at Caterpillar and Michelle is a stay-at-home mom. Michelle started participating as an individual member 8 years ago and recently upgraded to a family membership now that the kids are old enough to participate in programs and workout on their own.
As a family, The Skalet’s have participated in numerous programs over the years including Swim Club, Kids Triathlon Training, Run for the Health of It, Weightlifting for Teens, SafeSitter, and Mom and Dad’s favorite TRX and Pearce Cycling. The SafeSitter class in particular has given the family so much peace when it came for the time for the kids to babysit or stay home alone. The plan is to have all the children attend the class once they are of age to do so.
When asked what do they enjoy most about Pearce, they said “Pearce is an incredibly positive environment, the facility is great and the staff and other members are wonderful. We love hearing the kids say “Will you take us to Pearce?” And after a 5:30 a.m. cycling class, we love a cup of Sheila’s famous coffee to take for the road, it’s the perfect way to start the day.”
Having a Pearce membership helps our family tremendously. “We’re all happier when we are active. If we want our kids to prioritize their health and fitness, it is our job as parents to set an example and workout too. We’ve never regretted getting a workout in; even a 30-minute class yields a great mood afterward.”
The Skalet Family’s favorite Bible verse is “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
In their free time, The Skalet Family loves being outside; biking, swimming, and hiking are a family favorite. Most of their free time is spent attending kids’ activities and sporting events including soccer, basketball, track, dance, and tumbling. They love cheering on the kids. Currently, they are enjoying the homemade ice rink that Joel built in the backyard. The Skalet Family also enjoys volunteering alongside their church family at St. Edward’s Catholic Church.
