August Employee of the Month

Pearce would like to recognize Matt Storti as our August Employee of the Month!
Matt has been a member at Pearce for 15 years and has been a part of our team as an instructor and volunteer coach for over five years, teaching Swim Lessons, Swim Club, and the swim portion of our Triathlon Training course. In addition to his work in the pool, Matt has volunteered countless hours to maintaining and manicuring our facility’s landscape.
Prior to instructing swim at Pearce, Matt swam competitively while enrolled at Illinois State University, and has been involved with instructing and coaching in the Peoria area ever since. His passion for swimming and teaching shines through the connections he is able to make with his students, helping them grow.
Matt’s favorite part of instructing is helping people learn to swim in a way that is comfortable to them, and his most fulfilling and amusing students are typically first-time swimmers. “I love when a child does something for the first time, and realizes they loved it!”
Known for his light-hearted and welcoming persona, Matt says he approaches each day at Pearce with the goal of giving the members a sense that they belong — and we can confidently say that he achieves that goal!
Outside of work, Matt enjoys gardening, swimming, and reading — and prefers books over movies, citing “In a Sunburned Country,” by Bill Bryson as his favorite. Matt loves live theater, and said three words that can be used to describe him are: One Goofy Guy!
Matt’s favorite quote / inspirational thought is, “Do what you love for as long as you possibly can!”
Thank you, Matt, for being such a valuable part of the Pearce team!
